What does it take to hold on to something that doesn't exist at the first place? Ignorance? Maybe, how about believe or faith? Both seem adequately interchangeable but faith is a much stronger word since it somewhat intertwines both 'believe' and 'trust' together. Well, what actually drives us to hold on to it dearly at the first place despite knowing that it isn't there then? Desire perhaps? It serves as a positive motivation to constantly reach out for what you wanna hold on to without much conviction. You don't need concrete evidence to justify your drive towards it. You are self-motivated to do so. No exterior interference or aid. Just you, by yourself. You want it because you do. No queries or questions asked. Then again, there is always a defining line that provides the necessary boundary between desire and delusion. Stray by even a mere inch might see you to the other side. You just gotta hope that the grass is indeed greener over at the other side if not, you are on your own. Delusion is a two-sided affair. It can keep you in misery or contentment. Either way, both feelings are self-induced and ultimately, unreal.

Assuming that you did hold on, what is the outcome at the end of the day? Is it for certain that everything will turn out fine and the way you expected it to be, like in every fairytale or movie? Or is there still this cloud of uncertainty that amasses till the very moment where the truth unfolds? It has to be the latter cos in life, nothing is for certain. Now, another question will spring to mind; why hold on if it's not there? That is a very good question. Only your heart knows the answer.
